While looking for a projector, I was unsure whether to get the HD65 or HD66. The HD66 showed that it output a lot more lumens, and since I don't have 100% control over the ambient light I went with the HD66. I currently don't have a receiver to run all my components through, so the ability of this projector to have an audio in and out jack work perfectly for me.

I am able to run my 50ft HDMI cable directly to the projector and then send it back out to my speakers. I have a 30ft headphone (3.5mm) extension run to my speaker system for the time being. Note: this is a temporary fix until I get a receiver. I have it on a ceiling mount 11.5ft from my screen producing a 100" diagonal. For a screen I use a 4' x 8' .25inch mdf board with a poly vinyl coating that is mounted to my wall. It works great and found it at my local home improvement store for under 20 dollars.

The remote isn't bad but it's not backlit. The build quality is fine, although I wish I could place the lens cap on without adjusting the lens. I just leave it off because I don't feel like re-focusing it everytime I remove or put it on. This projector has tons of features which I really appreciate. I have not used this projector with 3D because I have no outputting 3D device but maybe in the future I will take advantage of this. 720p looks great from 14' away and creates a 100" diagonal and dwarfs all the 55inch and 42inch TV's I've seen while keeping the quality.

I do notice a little rainbow effects when there is a solid black object moving across a white background, but I can deal with it. This is a really beautiful performing entry HD projector though.

Bottom line; I approve and I'm really happy with the results. I've used it for 40hrs so far.

Great product - too much info buried in menus - steven yates - Baltimore, MD United States
Got this with a 92" Optoma manual screen. Installed to the ceiling and love the picture. So far the only issue I'm having is that sometimes (random) when I power up the projector and FIOS converter box I get an overly RED image on the screen. I've worked at adjusting the colors, etc. but that doesn't help. Generally, I need to shut down one or both products and power up again in order to get the picture colors correct - why I give it 4 stars. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? I plan to contact Optoma regarding this.

Like all previous posts this is a great product, produces a fantastic picture (for the $$) and now with the announcement from Optoma a few days back of a 3D converter that will work with 3D Blu-ray players and 3D TV broadcasts this will be a very hot item for sure. All we'll need will be more 3D broadcasts and DVDs available.

Very good quality vs price - Hector Droguett -
Until now the Optoma HD66 is all it is said about it. I tried it with regular movies, not 3D yet. Good resolution, bright, with independent zoom and focus and a wide connectivity options. A very good choice, may be the best under US$ 650.

you will not regret this purchase - shroomer07 -
There is nothing I can say about this projector that hasnt been said about it before. The image is high definition, clear and crisp. A lot of picture settings make it easy to get a great image. Its fan hardly makes noise (actually my ps3 is noisier than this projector)and easy to hook up. The source finder is a little annoying at times but nothing to complain about. The bright setting is not needed and the brightness of standard is great for daytime viewing but this projector shines at night (follow calibration settings that can be found on internet).

Now for some great news...... optoma just announced a 3d converter that fits the blu ray specs and so in a couple of months I will be watching 3d movies and playing 3d games on a 110" screen. 9 for converter and 9 for projector makes this the cheapest, largest home 3d solution to date.

I love this projector and so glad that i chose this over the hd20 where i would have to be in complete darkness all the time to appreciate the image which was a turn off towards projectors in the first place.

If you are reading this buy it, if you dont like it (i think i found 4 people out of hundreds who didnt like it)then return it, amazon makes it real easy!!!!!!
